Southern....

SO, according to pinterest I'm straight southern y'all....

I  mean I was born in Jacksonville, Fl and my family lived in throughout Georgia and northern florida for years I suppose. They eventually moved their way back to West Virginia and from there Ohio, Kentucky then Indiana... I ended up in South East Indiana where I spent most of my life.... Of course being my father's daughter, I wound up living in many places so far in my adult life, and like him and his father, I ended up in Florida for a while...

I was raised with a family that didn't have money but we sure had a lot of love. The greatest love story I know is that of my grandparents... They moved all over the U.S together, loved each other through it all, they didn't have a dime to their name but they had so much love to share and give and they had the strongest faith I'd ever seen... Since then as i've become an adult I honestly wouldn't want the burden that comes with lots of money... I'd much rather had less money and tons of love! I enjoy my husband coming home every day to spend time with me and our daughter. I am so very thankful and blessed I get to stay home with our girl. If we were money people we'd never see each other or our daughter and at that point I just wonder what the point in having a family is when you can't even see them... I will take second hand clothes for seeing my daughter walk for the first time... and I will take "new to us" cars to have tv time with my husband every evening. I'm not a name brand kind of person anyway and I love a great flea market find!

Any who... I was reading these posters on pinterest and getting a little teary eyed cause I can hear my mama say these things still to this day in my head I hear her voice clear as day saying "Lord have mercy" or "bless her heart" .... I mentioned this to my other grandma who is still with me and she said "well honey, you say these very same things all the time"... I couldn't help but feel pretty good about that... I always thought my mama was a sweet southern woman and I looked up to her and wanted to be like her... and here I am an adult and not even knowing it, had become the spitting image of her!

More things that said you may be southern if:

Its Lightnin bugs not fire flys *Check

Biscuits come with gravy *Check

Tea comes sweet *Check

I reckon and Over yonder are said *check

I enjoy my southern roots shining through and I think being just like my daddy and his momma is a great thing!

I did marry myself a city boy from California but I tell you what, he seems to enjoy living in the country and in Indiana... we've lived all over together and we ended up back here.. and it was his decision this time around! I feel so blessed to be living the life I live and share it with the people that I have....

Fleece Scarfs

Its a new year and as you know I had big plans! So far its been over a week (i started before new years) on No pop and I've been working at everything else! Doing well though I think!!

So part of my resolution was to do more projects so I chose these fleece scarfs since My wonderful, amazing mother-in-law will be seeing cooler weather soon, I thought this would be nice! Love you Barbara! and I added in a scarf for each of my nieces that she watches daily so they could all match as they explore their new city!

So first of all since my mother in law is from San Francisco and a Giants fan I thought this fleece was perfect!
I first cut all the fabric to the length and width that I wanted for each scarf. The smaller two are for a 2 year old and 6 month old... I can't wait to see them in the scarfs I just hope they fit ok...

So I put the fabric together front facing front and stitched down each side leaving the ends open and about 6 inches unsewn at the ends...

Then I pulled it through so it was right side out..

at the ends I cut strips and tied them together as if I were making a tie blanket...

and there you have it.... three super warm fleece scarfs... not the longest scarf for an adult but it will keep your neck and face warm thats for sure!

PS Erika if you're reading this I plan to make you a cute one as well and figure out a more guy friendly pattern for Jeremy.. I already have all the material :)

but all three of these start to finish took me about 40 minutes... or whatever the duration of Nora's morning nap was:)

Enjoy!!!
